Project Info:
Situated in the fastest growing area of Bexar County, the future park off Talley Road near Medio Drive represents a significant step in addressing the recreational needs of a quickly expanding community.
With an investment of $2.9M, the park will provide much-needed green space for recreational activities, family outings, and public gatherings near Alamo Ranch. Spanning approximately 50 acres, the designated tract of land marks the only county funded public outdoor space in the area. The project will undergo two phases: Phase 1 involves a feasibility study and the development of an interpretive and master plan, and Phase 2 includes schematic design, design development, and construction.
The future park is part of Bexar County’s $690M Capital Improvements Program and compliments the 2021 Bexar County Parks Masterplan. The masterplan identifies the necessity for additional green spaces to maintain a level of service of 0.80 acres per 1000 residents. With an expected population surge of 2.9M by 2030 in Bexar County, this project is more than a park; it's a community lifeline.
Public input is essential for ensuring that county-funded initiatives truly reflect the needs and desires of the residents they serve. We invite Bexar County residents to take part in this unique opportunity for community members to help name the park and guide the park planning process. ***Please note, more community input meetings will be conducted after the feasibility study is complete***
